Students learn best from a teacher with strong experience, patient instruction, and a lifelong dedication to music education. At Marilou Padilla Gallardo Piano/Organ/Keyboard Studio, we provide private instruction guided by decades of teaching, performance, and professional music training.
Founded in 1990 by Marilou Padilla Gallardo, our studio continues to help students from beginner to advanced levels build confidence and skill in piano, organ, and keyboard performance.
Over 40 Years of Music Education Experience
Marilou Padilla Gallardo is a respected piano and organ instructor, educator, and keyboard performer with over 40 years of experience in music education and the performing arts.
As the principal operator and director of the studio, Mrs. Gallardo has helped students from the Metro Washington D.C., Northern Virginia, and Southern Maryland areas develop their musical abilities through structured private instruction.
Our students include preschool children, school-age students, teenagers, families, working adults, senior citizen retirees, and online learners from outside the local area.
Leadership in Music and Community Programs
In 2002, Mrs. Gallardo founded MPG Keyboard Artists and Friends, Inc., a nonprofit organization recognized by the Internal Revenue Service and the State of Maryland as a 501(c)(3) organization.
The organization sponsors cultural and community concert events that promote awareness of keyboard performing arts. Mrs. Gallardo currently serves as the organization's chief executive officer.

Awards and Professional Recognition
Mrs. Gallardo has received multiple awards and grants throughout her teaching and performance career.
Outstanding Teacher Awards
She received the Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award from Jordan Kitts Music in 1983, 1984, 1985, 1987, and 1989 while serving as a music instructor and in-house concert artist from 1982 to 1990.
Studio Recognition
Since 2016, the Marilou Padilla Gallardo Piano/Organ/Keyboard Studio has consistently been rated among the best teaching studios in the metropolitan Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia areas.
Yamaha Festival Adjudicator
Between 1984 and 1991, Mrs. Gallardo served as an adjudicator during Yamaha Electone Festivals, which were local and regional keyboard competitions held throughout the Metro Washington D.C. area.
MSMTA Grant Recipient
In 2003, she received the Jordan Kitts Music Grant from the Maryland State Music Teachers Association. The grant, known as the Judith Ferencz Memorial Grant, recognizes excellence in piano student development in Maryland.
International Piano Competition Jury Member
Mrs. Gallardo also served on the international jury for the piano competition sponsored by the World Pedagogy Piano Conference, held in Atlanta, GA, in 2006.
Educational Background and Musical Training
Marilou Padilla Gallardo studied piano performance at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines, under Professor Bernardino F. Custodio, a noted pianist, composer, and former conductor of the Manila Symphony Orchestra.
She also received a prestigious UNESCO fellowship in music studies at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. Among her additional mentors were Professor Lucino T. Sacramento, with whom she studied classical counterpoint and orchestration, and Philippine musical directors Miguel Velarde Jr. and Francisco Buencamino Jr., with whom she studied jazz harmony and popular arrangement during her early teens.
Early Performance Career
Mrs. Gallardo began performing at a young age and quickly became recognized for her keyboard talent. At age 14, she performed keyboards in the orchestra for the zarzuela production “Kapit Bahay” during the revival of the Manila Grand Opera House, under the direction of Philippine National Artist Lamberto Avellana.
At age 15, her major performance career began through “Kinabukasan,” a keyboard production sponsored by the Yamaha School of Music at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. She later performed extensively throughout the Philippines, Japan, and Taiwan as a concert artist and television performer on electronic organ and keyboards.
Mrs. Gallardo also performed for the former Philippine First Lady Imelda Romualdez Marcos, foreign ambassadors, and visiting dignitaries.
International Recognition and Touring Experience
Mrs. Gallardo was selected as one of the Philippines’ Ten Young Ambassadors of Goodwill by the Children’s Museum Library Inc. Foundation and received the Talent Award.
As a Talent Ambassador of Goodwill, she represented the Philippines through performances and cultural tours across the Philippines, Taiwan, and Japan under the sponsorship of the CMLI Foundation and UNESCO.
She was also one of the first recipients of the prestigious ALIW Award in the late 1970s for her achievements in keyboard performance within the Philippine entertainment community.
Her performance career also included concert tours in major United States cities such as Boston, Philadelphia, San Francisco, El Paso, Haddonfield, Washington, D.C., and New York City, as well as performances for the Philippine Consulate and Filipino communities across the United States.
